Throwback to yesterday's massive dodgeball game!

Today, the students had a 'HOOT' using Kahoot to complete their quiz on the Particle Theory of Matter. Many students were quite engaged in the quiz as it was more like a fun game. Each question had a time limit and you could also see how many students had answered each question in real time. Needless to say, it became a little competitive for the students.

1.) NOVEL APPROACH:

Continue working on your edits/revisions.
Final draft is due on Friday.

2.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Here is your Belief Systems Assignment Handout and Rubric in case you forgot it at school.
Digital resource - Worldbook Online: WorldBook. Feel free to use this to research the different belief systems.
If you need a username and password, they are both BCSTUDENT1

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

Using Kahoot created a great deal of competition and stress among the students.
In paragraph form, write about if you enjoyed this or not and include three things you feel contributed to this.
Back up your opinions with supporting examples.
Edit/revise for the givens.
Ask one student a question about their response.

Today was a fun day of learning especially when we played Kahoot. I personally thought that it was a great way of taking a quiz. Teachers would usually give us a test or quiz which is mostly on paper and that's boring. I was really engaged and excited when we started playing. I hope that more of our quizzes turn out to be this fun. I can't wait to play again.

Today was a fun day of learning especially when we played Kahoot. I personally thought that it was a great way of taking a quiz and it was so fun. Teachers would usually give us a test or quiz which is mostly on paper and that's boring. Well, this one was really engaging and exciting. I found it exciting as we were about to start. After that, everyone got so competitive and stressed out because obviously they wanted to get first. I was stressed out when I pressed the wrong button because it bumps you like six places back. I hope that more of our quizzes turn out to be this fun. I can't wait to play again.

Mr. Hong made most of us mad using the simple game. I hated that game from the start Mr. Hong didn't even explain the rules. I didn't know we had to look at his screen. So I thought we had to guess the answer. Agrh. I hate that game so much. Well, the scoring system makes the game very intense and the fact that they show the leaderboard makes it even more intense. Overall the game itself is fun, but I think we took it way too competitively.

My experience with kahoot went very well because i thought it was a good way to challenge the brain with a multiple choice question. I enjoyed kahoot because as Mr. Hong says it was to stress out the students and it was actually stressful but i rate it 9/10 because it was soo fun and i really enjoyed it because you can use this for a math quiz but i didnt really like how we had to look at the smart board because i got the first question wrong. I also didnt like how Mr.Hong knew that we would get stressed. thanks Mr.Hong for that

Today’s game of Kahoot was intense. It caused many students to rage and stress. Same goes for me. I personally didn’t enjoy it. It was too stressful for me and I’m a competitive person. I have 3 reasons why I didn’t enjoy it. First, since i was using a laptop, I would accidentally click the wrong button. That obviously made me really frustrated because I knew the answer, it’s just the laptop that made me seem not smart. Next, there was many people trying the see the options which was displayed on the Smartboard. It was difficult for the people in the back to see them. It would’ve been easier if the options were displayed on the our screen instead of the Smartboard. Finally, I don’t like how there was a timer and over 30 other people the beat in order for you to get on the leaderboard. It makes it even more stressful when there’s already a timer. I always do things badly if I’m timed or rushed. Overall, I think Kahoot was a nice game but it was WAY to competitive and unfair for some people.

Today, we did our chemistry test through Kahoot. I personally enjoyed this while at the same time I didn't. I didn't because of few reasons like the fact that Mr. Hong didn't tell us that the questions would be on the board so this made things harder. At first, I was really confused but then I looked up and figured it out. This made things harder partly because of the fact that there was something blocking the bottom left corner of the smart board from my perspective even when I stood up. One issue with standing up was that I had to hold my laptop. You might think that this isn't that bad but it is. Holding my laptop caused me to get one wrong because while I was looking up I guess I somehow clicked one of the boxes. The final reason why I didn't like it too much is because some of the boxes had the same answers which made it so that even if you got a question right, it would be marked as wrong simply because of the box you chose. Other than all of those, I really enjoyed it. I liked how it was more competitive. It was almost like an incentive to do better. So yeah, that's how I felt about the "test" on Kahoot today. Sorry I kind of rushed this.

@ Emily - I did mention one thing that I enjoyed. I enjoyed how it was competitive. It was almost like an incentive for me to do better. I don't really know what else I enjoyed besides the fact that it was actually kind of fun.

We did our Particle Theory test on Kahoot today. It was fun because it's different from normal test. I used Kahoot before so I was ok. It was an exciting game with leaderboard. However, some people might have problems with their computer sand it became unfair to them even though they knew the answer but couldn't make it. Overall I think it's a good try because this was something different.

Kahoot was pretty fun, but it was also stressful at the same time. Here are 2 reason's I'd rather take a quiz than play Kahoot

1.) It's stressful. Kahoot is a very competitive game, which in result, causes the players to experience stress. Taking a normal quiz is very relaxing, the atmosphere is peaceful and there isn't that much to worry about.

2.) It takes time to read the multiple-choise-answers. Here, let me explain. You get more points in return for answering right quickly. Efficient readers can read the multiple-choise-answers faster, and in return can make them solve the question easier. In Kahoot, every second matters if you're going to make it to the leaderboard.

eg. *multiple-choise-answers* is supposed to be *multiple-choice questions* (note that the ANSWERS don't have multiple choices, but the QUESTIONS do)

also check over for grammar mistakes, and unnecessary commas

Today we used Kahoot to play a fun, interactive game in class. For many students (including me), it was their first time using Kahoot, and it was a very fun experience. Overall, I liked the game a lot, but I dislike the fact that Mr.Hong didn't really give an explanation at the start, so a lot of us were fumbling to turn around, and missed the first question. I like the format of this game, but I think a lot of people would've had more fun if they new the rules a bit better, and were ready to look up at the smartboard. It was a cool "test" to take, and I would gladly do it again.

When we used Kahoot for a test it was really fun because you get points for when you answer a question right and you always want to get 1st in points. When we did this I felt happy because it was like a fun test and I think most of us like fun tests. Also I felt stressed a bit because you of course I want to get the questions right and because I want to do it fast. Lastly I felt bit unhappy when I don't get the question right but I wasn't so unhappy just a bit unlike some people.

In addition, it isn’t a good way to test our knowledge about matter because we can’t write about what the answer is and it is multiple choice which doesn’t give our brain a challenge. It isn’t fair for the people who know exactly what the answer is if someone can guess half the answers. Another thing I disliked was that it kept glitching and I could never click any of the correct answers. Actually, I couldn’t click any of them. It would click by itself even when I wasn’t touching it. Furthermore, it actually encourages me to do worse in some ways. Whenever I’m in certain competitive activities, tests, and whatnot, I usually feel like doing worse and not trying. This is especially prominent when I feel like I’m under pressure like today. In conclusion, I’ve never liked or enjoyed Kahoot’s tests/quizzes and I don’t really want to do more in the future. It limits our creativity and writing skills.

‘A little competitive’!?!?! Are you kidding? The test today was a scoop of pure stress with some extra confusion and a hint of chaos on top. I mean, it was far more interesting than boring ol’ paper tests. But it was actually a lot more frustrating, and there are three main reasons I think this. First of all, it would’ve been nice to have some sort of introduction to Kahoot. I feel like the main reason people started raging was because they didn’t know how it all worked. Meanwhile the main reason I was mad, was because of that one question where the same answer was repeated. I got really angry because that bumped me from third place to twenty-eighth place, and after that I couldn’t bring my score back up fast enough. Another complaint that I have is about the legibility of the answers. Depending on what angle you looked at the board from, it was harder and easier to see certain things. I feel like if we were to do this again, everyone would enjoy it more. Because now we understand what to do.

Today, we use Kahoot to have a science quiz, I think it is really fun to do that for a quiz, and I actually enjoy it so much. I enjoy it because every time when we do the quiz, we need to write it on paper, it does not seem fun for me. But today, we use it and we can see who is the fastest, and we can know are we getting it all correct right away, that make me feel it was fun. I also like how we have a great atmosphere. It is because usually when we just write it on paper, it will be so quiet which I actually don't really like, but then now we have the people who are happy and people who are sad that they were not fast enough, that made me feel relax. I don't really like about when some people start arguing that it was not fair because they can't see the question. I think it sometimes made me feel scared because I want to be first,and when it pops up, I had to do it fast. Overall, I just really like to use Kahoot to do quiz, because it is such a great website and it wouldn't be that boring.

Tests always stress me out, especially when I just learned about something and we have to do test on the second day. But after today's science test, I was not as stressed and nervous. To me, this is more of a game instead of a quiz. I really like how we can have a competition and learn at the same time. It was really fun.

While the track meet was great, I have to say I am disappointed to have missed the Kahoot quiz. It sounds like it was, well how should I put it...hmmmmmm...a good experience that provided students the opportunity to experience a variety of emotions in a short period of time. And a great opportunity for reflection. I really enjoyed reading about how were working on developing your self-regulation ability.

I think that tomorrow, your classmates that missed this should be provided the same opportunity for leaning that you all had! Don't you agree?

I didn't really like it the first time, but now I understand it I think we should use it more often. My reasons: 1, I thought we just had to pick a shape or something and didn't get it. 2, then I couldn't see the screen no matter how I twisted or leaned, and 3, because of this I did badly even though I knew the answers. But next time, I'm ready! Besides, knowledge is the most important thing.

When I say "tests",what do you think? Would you expect a video game? Nope? Well that's what our science test was! I really liked the excitement,and even though at first it seemed like a test,by the end the game felt more like a video game than a test! I actually liked the stress,because it is suspenseful.I loved competing against Jerry in this contest! All in all,I think its a very fun experience,and I look forward to more of these kind of tests!

Usually, tests consists of multiple questions on a piece of paper that each student receives. But that is not the case in kahoot. Kahoot is and online platform of where you can make test for people and see the answers in real time. (Well, after everyone has finished giving their answers.) It is also a contest. You get points on each of the questions. It depends on how fast you answer and if you get that answer correct or not. In my opinion, kahoot is a great way to make tests fun and exciting. Although it could be stressful. It wasn't at all what I was expecting.
