The C.R.A.A.P. Test

Today was a fun-filled day of learning as usual. The students walked into the classroom and used their self-regulation strategies to start the day off right! Way to go everyone! Later, the students learned about 'C.R.A.A.P.'! More specifically, they learned about the C.R.A.A.P. test to check to see if their sources of information are reliable. Parents, click here to review the handout. Here is a video for you to review with your parents. Explain to your parents what each letter stands for and a few things you should be looking for when looking to see if your source are reliable or not. Later in the afternoon, our teacher librarian, Mrs. Altman, taught the students how to use a legend to organize their inquiry research notebooks.

IMPORTANT: Some students have not yet paid for their Gr.7 Hoodies. Please pay ASAP!
1.) MATH:

Divisibility Rules Assessment tomorrow to check to see how you're doing.
Review your handout with all your rules. Feel free to do some of your questions from your booklet for review if you think you need it.

2.) FRENCH: 4 Seasons pictures due on Thursday.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Today, you learned and practiced using the CRAAP test to check sources of information for reliability.
Today, I want you to take a look at this website.
The Pacific Northwest is home to a well-known animal called the tree octopus.

SUCCESS CRITERIA:

Use the CRAAP test and write a paragraph (intro, supporting sentences, and conclusion) about why you believe this website is reliable or not.
Include at least 3 different points and details (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose). You must explain 3 of them. Do not simply state what each letter stands for.
Div 2 students from last year must also complete this activity.
You are responsible for completing a self-assessment for the givens (spelling, capitals, grammar, sentence structure, etc).
Edit/revise based on this and the assignment criteria.

@ RZ - Nope. You should do it, but read the instructions carefully. You need to write a paragraph using the CRAAP test.

@Ty, there isn't PAR today, you just have to take a look at the tree octopus website to see whether it's reliable or not.

Tree octopus? I dont believe it at all! here's some reasons I don't believe it. First on the bottom it says this website is sponsered by a university, I never heard of it so I searched it up. It showed up, but the website was created by the same person that created the tree octopus website. The way I know this is by looking at the URL of the website, it is almost the same. Another reason I think it's fake is because three teachers in the past had showed me this too, and after I saw it they all told me it's fake. The next reason I think this not a reliable source is becuase I think octopuses can only live in water, not in air. Also the food chain will be messed up. The last reason I have today is having these octopuses around, we never see them in zoos. Like climbing on the trees and spraying ink in the air.
So with those reasons put together, it's pretty convincing that it's fake.
