SCIENCE WORLD FIELD TRIP TOMORROW - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Today in class the students saw a video about the Kinder Morgan Pipeline. As a class we discussed the pros and cons about this project. The students made many observations about the project and as groups they started to come up with "good inquiry questions." The students were shown the Q-chart and learned that "good inquiry questions" start with the word: why would..., why might..., why will..., how would..., how might..., or how will...For example; why would people protests a pipeline that will make Canada money?

WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Please email Mr. Hong directly at [email protected] or at [email protected] to let me know if your parents can come along tomorrow. If we don't get enough volunteers, we may have to cancel the trip. BE IN CLASS BY 8:20am tomorrow morning. We will leave the school for Science World at 8:30am!

1.) MATH:

Watch this video Intuition for Area of a Triangle
Remember the formula for finding the area of a triangle is Area = (Base x Height) / 2.
In your Math Focus textbook complete questions 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,13.
This is due on Friday.

2.) NOVEL APPROACH: If you didn't complete yesterday's FRESHGRADE learning reflection, click here and follow the instructions from yesterday's homework. This must be completed today.

3.) HEALTH EDUCATION:

Today we continued our talk on the difference between gender, sex, and sexuality.
The students showed that they are able to think critically by presenting many different opinions and views.

4.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Research the Kinder Morgan Pipeline.
In your google doc write down 30 questions you have about this project.
Remember questions have to be ON TOPIC.
Remember questions that can be answered with a yes or a no are not good inquiry questions.

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

We watched two videos today about the Kinder Morgan Pipeline. Many people are for this project and many people are against it. One of the arguments against this project is that in contributes to global climate change.
What do you think about Climate Change?
Is it a concern for the planet?
What could we do about it?
Can you think of an example of how climate change has effected Canada?
Answer in PARAGRAPH form and FULL sentences.
Spelling and Grammar are givens.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS NOT REAL!!!!
I think this because if it is making the earth warm than when I go outside I'm freezing😨. It is not a concern for Earth because it's not real... some random person was like "Hey I'm gonna make everyone scared of global warming lol his is gonna be amazzzing". We could fix his by making a riot and saying " GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT REAL ×100". It has not effected Canada because global warming is NOT I repeat NOT real.

Climate change

I think climate change is real and it's really bad. It is a concern to the planet because if it keeps on getting hotter and hotter and hotter and hotter and hotter. If it keeps on getting hotter than our planet will become like Venus. I think we should try to improve electric cars to stop pollution, but we still have cows. If you are wondering what cows have to do with global warming it's their farts. Climate change has effected Canada. If you could tell outside it is cold and climate change is the reason.

I think climate change is real. It is a concern to this planet because weird things are happening. For example B.C got a lot of snow when we usually don't. We slow down climate change by pollutin less.

I think Climate change is real because Antarctica is melting and its cold there. Its warming up causing the ice to melt and thaw.
This is big to our planet! If the climate changes more, for an example, here. If it starts to warm up here, the plants will die out, the animals can get to warm, and we will not survive. same with coldness, We could freeze to death. We could make an machine that will keep our food safe with the right temp to survive and grow. Canada has gotten colder in the past winter. this is more snow from the past years. Its still snowing now!!

I think climate Change is natural because it's just the earth getting warm. I think it is a concern because climate change can happen anytime it wants too. Reduce energy {oil} use less earth resources.
The climate change affected Canada because it's snowing in march when it only should snow in December.

Climate change is happening. Its something that screws our weather up. Like Logan said he thinks its a myth. He thinks that because if something like this was really happening, we would know about it. Its just that we have technology. It can see climate change from a mile away these days. Yeah! its a concern for our planet, we might as well kick Kinder Morgan and his pipe lines to america with Trump, he'll love his ideas. The only thing we can do about it really is to use cars less.

Climate Change

I think it is real and it is just the begging ! Like it's snowing in march and it's spring. Does that not concern you! I think we need to stop these people ! But now , I think there's nothing we can do at this point! What if trump is on this . I still think we as human beings living on this earth should fight for what is right. This has everything to do with earth. We are so bad at taking care of the earth look what is happening. Like Logan said " If I go outside I will be freezing!" I think climate change is real, because it's still snowing even though its March already. It is a concern for our planet because if it always happen, then our seasons would get messed up, like combining paint together. Another way to stop climate changes is that we can stop littering, pick up litter, water plants, and not spread oil in the ocean. An example of what climate change has done to Canada is, it's still snowing even though it's already March! Which means, winter is done, and it's already spring!

I think climate change is real because Anartica ia melting and the polar bears are almost becoming extinct because of it.We should be concerned about it because it is REAL and it is damaging the Earth and without a Earth where are we going to live? We can only wait to see.We could try to pollute less and to stop using coal generated items because its hurting the environment, also we could stop constructing pipelines because it's destroying wildlife.It's affecting Canada because it's March and it's snowing, LIKE WHAT????!!!. It's amost Spring for crying out loud.

Climate change is bad because it will heat up or freeze the world so Canada will be come Arizona. :/ We can grow vines to stop carbon entering or anthosphere because vines are a nature way to suck up carbon.

What I think about the climate change is that it really effects our planet critically because of how many people risking they're selves to just contain that special oil thats in Alberta. We can stop this by posting a fundraiser/kickstarter to encourage people to stop littering. How I plan this is by Modern DNA testing so if someone finds a peice of garbage anywhere the person can pick it up and report to the police therefore once they found the culprit they will be charged around... lets say $4.99+Tax=$5.46.
It affected Canada by ruining its environment due to the people who specificly "need" to build factories.

Climate change to me is when to weather gets wild and somethings happen unusually.
Yes, because it may destroy the environment, melt the ice off of north/sought pole, and some places on Earth with be hotter/colder than other places on Earth.
We can stop by not creating anymore coal generators/factories because they pollute more than other factories especially that Donald is going to bring back up the coal generators/factories and that will it pollute with northern hemisphere so that can be bad because it may heat up and melt the ice up at the north pole and that can create more water then have a higher chance of covering up the land at the top part of Canada.
I'm not sure if climate change has effected Canada.

In my opinion, climate change is a bad thing especially what happened this past few days (snowing even though it's not winter). Like what @Ben said, something unusual will happen. It is totally a concern for the planet since, it might die due to climate change. We can help by not polluting our stuff. For example, don't smoke or use your car too much since the smoke... will be gathered together and it will pollute the air. We also have to eat less and just buy organization food instead of non organic foods.
